Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Escape to Manuel Antonio

Meet your bilingual driver at Juan Santamaria Airport (SJO) near San Jose and jump in a private van that will whisk you away on three-hour ride through the mountains, coasts, to your hotel in Manuel Antonio.

Day 2 – Manuel Antonio National Park Guided Tour

Grab a towel, a pair of binoculars and some hiking shoes and discover Manuel Antonio National Park on a guided nature walk and end it playing in the waves; you'll want to cover as much ground as you can to explore the park's beaches, secondary and primary rainforests, mangroves, marshlands and rocky islands. Manuel Antonio Beach, the park's most popular destination, is a stunning tropical cove featuring white sands, and crystal blue waters.

Day 3 – Explore Espadilla Beach & Biesanz Cove

Traverse the town of Quepos, get caught up in the local flavors by eating at a soda. Walk along the waterfront of Espadilla beach with awesome views of the coastline in the afternoon. Hike and climb to Biesanz Beach's hidden cove where the tropical rainforest camouflages its cream-colored sand.

Day 4 – Discover Tortuguero Village, Your Resort Trails & Try Your Luck Seeing Turtle Nesting

Discover the trails of your eco-lodge! Then, head into Tortuguero village for a self-guided walk. Walk from one side of the village to the other while taking a look at the town's present. Usually, you will can buy souvenirs from the shops or take a stroll down the beach behind the village to test your luck seeing baby turtles sprinting to the ocean at sunset.

The remnants of soft white shells litter the tops of the beach between craters where nesting sea turtles have laid their eggs along the 22-mile shoreline of Tortuguero Beach. Each year from July 1 to September 30, sea turtle nests crowd the top of the beach. Inside the nests, baby green sea turtles mature for 60 days then break out of their shells using their temporary egg tooth and begin their ascent to the beach. Every day during turtle season, visitors can see these baby turtles breaking free and scampering over the sand to the sea.

Day 5 – Tortuguero National Park Canal Tour & Fly Back Home

Float down Costa Rica's bayou looking for monkeys, sloths and toucans among the rainforest foliage of Tortuguero National Park. Slip into a canoe or a kayak for a stealthy wildlife adventure or wait until nightfall and join a nighttime canal tour looking for bats, birds, tapirs and elusive kinkajous. Bird watchers will relish waking up early for the more than 375 bird species that frequent Tortuguero including egrets, herons, anhingas, jacanas, king fishers, trogons and endangered species like the green macaw.

Enjoy the last moments of relaxation in Tortuguero and get ready to get for your trip back home.
