Rooms

Six independent Baroque-style villas encompass a millstone pool and Jacuzzi with a fountain trickling its soundtrack throughout palm tree and tropical plant gardens. One-bedroom villas, $153 in dry season (Dec.-April), feature a small foyer, window ledge, kitchen, telephone, separate bedroom with queen-sized bed, cable TV, A/C, Wi-Fi, safety deposit box and a private bathroom. Each villa has its own private terrace with a hammock and a large wooden dining table.

Services & amenities

Roberto, who is usually on site, is a 'favorite Italian uncle' to many kids who stay in Villas Kalimba, drawing him pictures he proudly displays on the wooden pillars of a poolside rancho, where guests can relax in the shade after a day at the beach. On random occasions, Roberto posts a 'Tonight Roberto is Cooking' sign near the pool during the day so his guests know to RSVP for a special dinner hosted in the rancho around sunset.

A standalone reception building at the Villas Kalimba entrance has stacks of books, boogey boards and toys to bring to the beach. Receptionists, available from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., can arrange tours and transportation. They and an after-hour security guard monitor the electric gate allowing cars to park inside.
