Rooms

Pink ginger, heliconia and dozens of other flowers and plants line the walkways around the hotel leading to Casa Luna's double-decker hotel rooms. Built with Spanish-style stucco walls and red-tile roofs, the rooms are stacked on top of one another with large patios and chairs for enjoying the scenery.

Inside, the rooms have two queen-size beds furnished with Spanish-lattice metal bed frames, wooden furniture and adobe-tiled floors. Amenities include cable, hot showers, phones and Wi-Fi. Rates vary from $135 for a double in the low season (Feb. to Nov.) to $155 in the high season (Dec.-Jan.)

Food

Casa Luna's restaurant is underneath a large, rustic open-air awning. Breakfast, included in the room rate, is a nice spread of Costa Rican staples: fresh fruit, scrambled eggs and Gallo Pinto (rice and beans). But what sets the Casa Luna apart, is the chef who makes fresh omelets with a choice of ingredients like cheese, peppers, ham, and tomato.

The dinner menu has a variety of options both local and international.  Pastas, steaks, seafood, sandwiches and hamburgers are all on the menu ranging from reasonably priced to high-end. Their seafood stands out with a few different local options, like the fresh, fried whole tilapia served with melon, rice and lemon wedges.

Spa

The spa at Casa Luna has a wide selection of rejuvenating experiences for guests.  The massages range from $35 for a 30-minute reflexology massage to an $80 70-minute deep-tissue massage with a variety of in-between options including hot stones, Swedish and lymphatic massages.

The special packages are probably the best deals; starting at $110 for the Arenal package that includes a hot stone massage and mud wrap to the honeymooner package that includes a massage for couples, plus a chocolate body wrap for $180.
